Hello, and welcome. I’m Brittany, a dedicated therapist with over eleven years experience in helping my clients on their journey towards healing, self-discovery, and growth. With a warm and empathetic approach, I create a safe space for my clients to explore their emotions, fears, and struggles. I focus on providing an affirming and understanding space for clients navigating issues like body image, binge eating disorder, self-esteem, depression, trauma, and anxiety. I am especially passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive environment for neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I love working with my clients to unpack challenges, celebrate strengths, and foster empowerment.
I recognize that I hold white, middle class, and cis-hetero privilege. I also currently hold size privilege, although I did live for many years in a much larger body. These important aspects of my identity have shaped my life experiences and impact the ways in which I practice therapy, as well as the social justice lens I have from my specialized coursework on the intersectionality between gender, race, and class. Due to my own experiences with things like sexism, ableism, and sizeism, I don’t shy away from these topics as they come up in therapy—I know they impact mental wellness and ignoring them can further harm marginalized people. Guided by values of gender and sexuality justice, I am committed to dismantling cis-heterosexism, ableism, fat-phobia, and other oppressive systems that impact my clients’ well-being. I recognize that true healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it’s rooted in both personal and collective work toward dismantling social barriers and building spaces that celebrate diverse identities. In my work, I aim to offer a safe and nonjudgmental environment where clients can feel seen and valued for who they are. Whether working through the complex effects of grief, confronting the weight of societal expectations on body image, or simply navigating daily life as an oppressed person, my role is to be a steadfast ally and partner on each client’s journey.
As a neurodivergent person myself, with both Autism and ADHD neurotypes, I understand firsthand the importance of a therapeutic space that honors and celebrates neurodivergence. I believe that Autism, ADHD, and other forms of neurodiversity are not pathologies to be "fixed" but unique ways of experiencing and interpreting the world. My work is not only affirming but also informed by a deep empathy and commitment to neurodiversity, fostering an environment where clients can thrive on their own terms. I help clients find tools and coping mechanisms that align with their natural strengths, supporting them in navigating the often ableist systems and societal expectations they encounter. Together, we will work to deconstruct internalized ableism and self-doubt, creating space for self-acceptance and confidence.
For clients who struggle with body image and disordered eating, I offer a compassionate approach rooted in Health at Every Size (HAES) principles. I am dedicated to challenging the stigma and systemic biases surrounding body size and weight, helping clients reclaim body autonomy, and promoting a healthy relationship with food and movement. My work emphasizes self-compassion, body respect, and dismantling harmful societal norms, creating a space where individuals of all body sizes can feel affirmed and empowered.
In our work together, my priority is to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in mutual respect and empathy. My therapeutic approach is rooted in a feminist and relational style that aims to individualize your treatment to your specific needs. Together we will explore how your past experiences, both with others and yourself, affect your present. I believe that as most harm occurs in relationship, most healing does as well. Through the relationship that we will form in our work together, you can begin to imagine new possibilities of relating to yourself and others that can help create meaning and fulfillment in your life. I value a gentle, light-hearted approach that makes you feel safe enough to explore ideas and experiences you may never have shared with anyone. Even though you’re dealing with difficult things, I hold the door open for hope and optimism to enter the process with my light-hearted sense of humor.
Recognizing the importance of self-care in my profession, I cherish moments spent horseback riding, exploring new restaurants, binge watching a good show or true crime documentary, and spending time with my family or close friends. My dearest companion, Bentley the Biewer Terrier, symbolizes the profound healing potential of animals in offering unconditional love and support.
